Meet The Women Who Are Leading The Fourth Industrial Revolution

Following the success of last year's #WomenInIndustryHull event, we are delighted to announce our Women 4.0 afternoon that will coincide with International Women's Day on Friday 8 March.

The aim is to create a platform that highlights successful women in the industry, to inspire all people and to lead a positive path for the next generation.

Dr Elaine Lancaster, Chief Technical Officer for Groupe Atlantic and President of the Energy Utilities Alliance (EUA) is our main speaker.

Dr Elaine Lancaster BA(Hons) Oxon MSc PhD, Chief Technical Officer for Groupe Atlantic.

After graduating with a PhD in Metallurgy and Materials Science, Elaine spent the first five years of her career at British Steel in Technical and Marketing roles when she started to become interested in the development of new products.

For the past 18 years, she has worked in the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) industry, leading a wide range of teams at Ideal Boilers, Vaillant Group and BDR Thermea.

"I am currently Chief Technical Officer for Groupe Atlantic, UK, ROI and North American Division and responsible for R&D in domestic and commercial gas boilers, water heaters and electronics. In 2018, I became the first female president of the EUA," Elaine tells us.

Shortly after Elaine’s talk, we'll hear from an inspiring panel made up of Dr Kirsty Clode, Claire Clark and Sharon Jones.

Claire Clark is a Chartered Engineer and former Software Engineer who currently works at C4DI-based App and IoT Development Agency Sauce.

"I facilitate the positive growth and development of the team. I implement industry best practice and standards to our way of working, whilst leading the successful development and delivery of a range of interesting projects and products," Claire explains.

"My passion is to inspire others and help them to succeed. This is one of the reasons I co-founded Women 4.0 with Barclays Eagle Lab."

Meanwhile, Dr Kirsty Clode is the Chair of Women into Manufacturing and Engineering (WiME) and previously the Entity Leader for BP’s Petrochemical complex. Here, she was responsible for the safe, reliable operation on of the complex and the 350 people who worked there.

"I've always had a passion for developing people. WiME is a business-led initiative to inspire girls and women to choose a career in these industries," Kirsty enthuses.

The third member of the panel is Women 4.0 co-founder Sharon Jones, who was also the first engineer for Barclays Eagle Labs and named in The Women’s Engineering Society’s 2018 Top 50 Women in Engineering (WE50).

"I have developed activities for schools and youth groups using 3D printing and microelectronics to enhance their learning. I support new entrants to the manufacturing and engineering sectors," Sharon adds.
